ORTHROS HELP

Praying Together

Praying Together lets a household or a few others keep one list of names, living and departed. Each person prays at home. The list appears in their own rule at the commemorations, under the circle's name. It is free.

Where to find it

You can find it in three places: the quiet Praying Together door under Devotions on Pray, the line under Those I Pray For (it reads "Alone or together" until you have a circle), and Circles you share under Praying Together in Your Lamp.

Circles

A circle is reached only by an invitation that one person sends another through Messages or Mail. Nothing in it can be found by anyone else. It holds names and whether each is living or departed, and nothing more: no comments, no messages, no counts. Members cannot see who added a name. The person who began the circle may let others add names or keep the list read-only, may remove anyone, and may end the circle.

Sharing is Apple's own iCloud sharing. Orthros has no account and no server for it. Choose Include on my proskomedia slip on a circle if you want its names on your slip.

Share your names as a card

On Those I Pray For, or on a circle, choose Share as a card. The sheet shows the card as it will look. Share it as an image, or as plain text, through the system share sheet. Only the names are shared. Notes and years of repose stay on this device.

The commemoration slip

Choose The commemoration slip beside it. The slip opens full screen in large type, with a simple cross and two headings, For the health of and For the repose of. Write baptismal names only, as the priest will read them. Print it, or share it as a PDF, and give it to the priest with your prosphora, or at the candle desk.

From Those I Pray For the slip holds your names and the circles you chose to include. From a circle it holds that circle's names. Ask your priest how your parish takes commemorations.

Ask others to pray

The people you ask do not need Orthros. Beside Share as a card, choose Ask others to pray. Write a short request, such as "Pray for Maria, surgery on Tuesday." Keep or change the first names, choose Living or Departed, and choose the day the page closes: forty days unless you choose otherwise, ninety at most.

Choose Make the link, then Share the link. Orthros makes an unlisted page at pray.orthros.app. Anyone with the link can read it until the day it closes, and it cannot be found by searching. It shows your request, the names, a short prayer from Orthros, and a line asking them to remember those named at their own parish. It has no comments, no counters and no tracking. Each page carries a Report this page link.

You may add your parish's own page. Any gift goes straight to your parish, and Orthros never handles it. Your open requests lists each link. Remove closes the page for everyone at once. Only what you write there is shared, so use first names, and keep to what you are willing for anyone with the link to read.
