Chant and Audio

Open the audio controls

Tap the waveform control to open Chant. When audio is playing, the control becomes a compact Now Playing surface with playback controls.

Ambience and effects

Open Your Lamp, then Settings or Ambience & Sound to adjust the sound beneath the app, its volume, and effects such as the recorded censer bells.

Opening Help never starts a new sound or changes a sound preference.

Downloads

Downloaded Orthros audio is stored on the device that downloaded it. A TestFlight installation on another device does not currently receive those files automatically.

Personal recordings

Personal recordings belong to the person who made or imported them. They are kept separate from Orthros' sourced Church library. Current TestFlight installations do not share recording files, titles, or shelves between iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Audio rights and source boundaries

Orthros' prayer experiences, chant beds, guided audio, and background ambience must use recordings Orthros owns, has licensed for that use, or has verified as legally reusable.

Apple Music content, if added in a separate feature, must remain a standalone, user-initiated shelf. It must not be mixed beneath prayer or narration, cached, repackaged, automated, or placed behind an Orthros payment or information gate. Apple Music previews are promotional handoffs to Apple Music, not independent listening content. They require the applicable Apple attribution, badge, linking, and no-caching rules.

App Store API permission does not settle music copyright questions. Commercial recording uses beyond Orthros-owned or expressly licensed files require rights review.

Quick reference

  • The waveform control has three states: a small corner icon when nothing is playing, a compact bar once something starts, and the full player, which folds itself back after about twenty seconds.
  • Four toggles live in the full player: Ambience, Censer, Repeat, and a Sleep timer with a few preset lengths.
  • During a prayer session or the komboskini, the player shrinks to a small pill so nothing covers the prayer. The audio keeps playing underneath.
  • Imported or linked recordings can be renamed, moved into folders, and reordered from the Audio screen; removing one never deletes it from wherever you originally got it.
