iPhone widgets

Orthros can provide Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for the day, saint, fast, lamp, or a direct doorway into prayer. If a widget is stale, open Orthros once and allow WidgetKit time to refresh.

Widget layouts are intentionally more compact than the full app, but their headings and reading text use the same Orthros type system. Native system symbols remain system-drawn so they stay clear at very small sizes.

iPad

The iPad uses a wider layout and includes Search as a standing destination. Its widgets use the same day and vigil visual system as the app.

Apple Watch

The Watch can show a concise Today view, prayer and audio controls, Smart Stack widgets, and complications. Its widget text uses the same Orthros display and reading faces in sizes adapted for the Watch. Watch data sharing depends on a compatible signed app and matching app-group access.

CarPlay

CarPlay is intentionally limited to safe audio browsing and playback. Prepare downloads and preferences on the phone before driving. Features that require reading, writing, or complex interaction remain on the phone.

Mac

The native Mac Catalyst app supports a wider interface, Search, keyboard access, and native desktop widgets when the Mac app embeds and signs its widget extension correctly.

Current cross-device limitation

Prayer history, prayer-rope sessions, journals, confession notes, counsel, custom rules, favorites, Scripture notes, progress, parish details, attendance, and the approved preference allowlist can use private iCloud sync. Personal recording files, recording titles and shelves, downloaded audio, widget snapshots, and diagnostics stay on the device where they were created.
